The journey is finally over! Ok, bad pun, I’ll admit it but I just couldn’t resist. Too easy. Thatgamecompany may take their sweet time on putting out new games, but what they do create tends to be extremely creative and imaginative. For example, just look at “Flower”. It’s probably the most relaxing game I’ve ever played. The concept is so simple and yet, it’s just so addicting. You use the wind to blow around petals and shape the landscape. Brilliant.
It’s with great anticipation that I’ve been waiting for their next release in ‘Journey’ and finally that wait doesn’t seem quite as long. For those unaware, Journey is an adventure as you guide a mysterious person through a sprawling desert in the hopes to get to the summit of a nearby mountain. It’s also an anonymous online experience as you’ll come across other people playing but the option to speak to them has been completely removed. According to thatgamecompany, Journey represents a person’s passage through life and their intersection’s with others during that passage.
Late last week, Journey was announced to have received a March 13th release date here in the US and a price tag of 15 bucks. It’s also leading off Sony’s annual Spring Fever event, so I’d expect more interesting content during that campaign as well. Ah, but what if you’re not part of the United States? Not to fear, you only need to wait an additional day as the game hits Europe on March 14. This announcement leads off weeks worth of new information and better yet, trailers, to give you more looks at the game. Stay tuned as I’ll have them here for your viewing pleasure.
