Looking for more content for Gears of War 3? Sure thing greedy. Lucky for you, Epic has finally announced the final DLC for their Season Pass promotion. Titled “Forces of Nature”, it appears that this fourth pack is similar to the Fenix Rising DLC. So you’ll be getting more multiplayer maps along with some additional skins.
So what are you really getting? You’ll be gaining access to 5 maps, 3 new ones and 2 remakes from Gears of War 2. Fan favorite, Raven Down, is making a comeback along with Jacinto. The three new maps are Aftermath, a tsunami ravaged government park, Artillery, a military base, and Cove, which is a large and open port town. Along with the maps you’re getting access to 4 character skins, three of which were the preorder bonuses at various retailers, and one new one in the Savage Hunter. Finally, you’ll also be able to use 7 weapon skins, 2 of which you’ll need to unlock through gameplay. You’ll be seeing this content hit Xbox Live on March 27, for what I’m going to guess will be 10 dollars, the same as the Fenix Rising DLC.
Forces of Nature isn’t just a cool name however. The big twist is that each map has a different weather effect happening. The port town of Cove will be wrapped in fog, Artillery is in the middle of a heavy storm, Aftermath currently is experiencing pools of water from the tsunami and dealing with an earthquake. The two remakes will also have elemental forces. Raven Down, for example, will now be in the dead of winter and a snow storm has moved in. Jacinto’s weather starts as a light drizzle which then slowly turns into a heavy rainfall.
But wait, I’ve got even more for you. Those of you who loved the mode Guardian from past Gears games will be happy to learn that in ‘Forces of Nature’, it’s making its grand return. For those curious, Guardian is a versus game type that’s similar to Capture the Leader, only the team will no longer respawn once their leader has been killed. In addition, each map will have a different ‘elemental cleaver’ hidden somewhere on it. Each cleaver has a different elemental power associated with it such as the Snow Cleaver which is able to throw an icy gust of wind at enemies when swung. Achievements are awarded for getting 25 kills with them in Beast or Horde mode.
Whew, so much content! Nice to see their going out with a bang in this last major DLC update. No word on if they’ll continue to supplement it with little things here and there however after this DLC hits in March. I do hope so though as I’m still waiting for my Skorge skin. Get on it, Epic.
